Career Trek’s Executive Director, Darrell Cole, recently took a trek all the way to Sri Lanka, and he couldn’t help but spread a little goodwill.
Darrell and members of the management staff and Board of Directors, rallied and donated food to a local orphanage, Ruhunu Child Care & Probation Orphanage.
"The orphanage was well run by passionate, committed staff, but was very under-resourced," says Darrell. "It felt good to be able to provide some relief for the staff and children, even if it was small."

Career Trek management staff members have an opportunity to be part of a social action initiative. This involves contributing financially and otherwise to another not-for-profit organization that is equally passionate about providing a brighter future for young people.
We believe doing so is a good reminder of how we can all move beyond ourselves and help others who are making a difference. Also, in the process we gain a better understanding of what it is to be a funder.

Every year, the team chooses a new agency to support. Right To Play (RTP) is our pick for 2011.
RTP is the leading international humanitarian and development organization using sport and play as tools to effect behaviour and social change. Their trained coaches and community leaders implement programs which are designed to develop basic life skills, prevent diseases, teach conflict resolution and instil hope in children affected by war, poverty and disease.
RTP implements programs in 20 countries in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and South America. A pioneer in its field, RTP sets standards for quality sustainable programming, promotes best practices and advances research on the efficacy of sport-based development efforts.
Founded in 2000 by Johann Olav Koss, four-time Olympic gold medalist and social entrepreneur, RTP fosters the hope and skills that are essential to envisioning and realizing a better future.
